Since its origin in 1987, J-KEM Scientific, Inc. has established itself as the leader in temperature and vacuum control equipment. The key to J-KEM’s success is understanding the requirements of researchers and manufacturing products that surpass their needs. Keep reading to learn more about us.
J-KEM’s founder, Dr. Robert Elliott, worked for 14 years at a Fortune 500 research corporation as a group leader in the areas of process development, discovery synthesis and the automation of a combinatorial synthesis program. Dr. Elliott’s background uniquely provided the experience needed to achieve.
The first product made by J-KEM was a temperature controller, which sold to Dr. Kurt Moedritzer of Monsanto – Dr. Moedritzer also purchased controller #2 and became our first loyal customer! The company has grown from offering that one product to a full line of products and accessories.
The creativity and quality of J-KEM’s equipment are due to our outstanding staff of engineers, all of whom have at least 20 years of experience in electronics and industrial chemistry.
We take pride in manufacturing and designing high quality and unique instruments specifically tailored to our customer’s needs. We appreciate your confidence in our products, and we look forward to future partnerships as we explore ways to make your research more productive.
J-KEM completed the redesign and implementation of the 3rd generation of its power control computer. The new design uses a FLASH programmable microprocessor that can be updated with new controller features from J-KEM’s web site.
Aggressive areas of growth at J-KEM are custom robotics, parallel synthesis equipment, and custom instrumentation. Evolving technology in chemistry has created the need for sophisticated one-of-a-kind instruments. J-KEM’s custom instrument group was formed to make state-of-the-art instruments based on user specifications. In its fourth year, the robotics program at J-KEM has met its goal of providing affordable and highly versatile machines.
We’re anxious to hear your ideas for new products. Research at the forefront of discovery requires equally sophisticated equipment. J-KEM welcomes the opportunity to assist with the design and manufacturing of novel instruments that are tailored to your research needs.
J-KEM appreciates the relationship we’ve had with all of our customers. It’s more than just the obvious fact that without you, J-KEM would not be in business. We appreciate the friendships and the ideas we’ve received from world-class scientists, without which many of our best products wouldn’t exist. Don Korte gave us the idea for the miniature overhead stirrer, Martyn Fordham, the Personal Reaction Station, Dr. Bruce Hamper the Solid Phase Synthesis Regulator, and the unknown chemist from Abbott who came to our booth at the ACS show to say “I don’t need a temperature controller, I need a vacuum regulator that works”. This resulted in our Digital Vacuum Regulator.
J-KEM is committed to responding to our customers’ research needs, to excellent customer service, and to producing the best products in the market.
To all of you, from all of us at J-KEM!
Dr. Robert Elliott
